Event Description:

In the chaotic landscape of healthcare, the ability to be resilient and continue to experience satisfaction in one’s professional life is of increasing importance. In the business community, the use of skills captured under Emotional Intelligence (EI) have been researched and show to improve situations and relationships. But, what about an impact of the experience of professional satisfaction in one’s chosen career? This program focuses on the foundation of EI, the impact of EI skills on scenarios that arise, and the potential connection between professional satisfaction and EI skills.

Educational Learning Objectives:

  • Define resiliency and the emotional intelligence (EI) competencies in the context of the leadership in health care.
  • Define the scope of impact leadership emotional intelligence has on the organization, patients, and clinicians when resiliency is low.
  • Analyze previous situations and determine potential alternative outcomes with improved EI competencies.
  • Create your own personal action plan of EI competencies to target for improvement.

Michelle Kinneer

Dr. Michelle Kinneer, PhD, JD, MSN, RN, CPHRM, CHC, CHPC
Risk and Patient Safety Education Manager

Dr. Kinneer works collaboratively with clients, proactively and in trying times, supporting their health care teams so they can continue delivering great care. Michelle joined MMIC in 2014 as a Senior Risk and Patient Safety Consultant bringing experience in leadership, risk management, compliance, and patient safety. Early on in Michelle’s health care career, she became known as someone others could rely on to remain calm and collected in stressful situations. Being a resource and helping clients work through challenges is truly one of her favorite roles. She’s often on-site to provide education, allowing her to engage every level of the organization in defining their role in providing safe, quality processes to best serve their patients. Michelle has participated with the data analytics team at Constellation to analyze claim experience to learn valuable insights. From these lessons learned, Michelle has been a key contributor to the development of content specifically designed to address the process gaps helping clients avoid similar situations that could put patients at risk. Dr. Kinneer recently assumed the role of Risk and Patient Safety Education Manager for MMIC.
