“What’s with not needing a trained Chief Privacy Officer? Don’t be without one!”

Join us for a FREE member webinar on Thursday, November 15!

Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST

Session Description

Incorporating a well-trained Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) into your practice demonstrates that you are aware of the complexities your practice faces in this rapidly changing privacy and security environment. It is not only an investment in the successful, and profitable, operation of your practice, but also signals your willingness to embrace privacy and security complexities and prepare for the future, while reinforcing a message of respect for your patients’ privacy. When you hire a qualified CPO, you build trust with your patients and send a message that your practice values and invests in their privacy.

Learning Objectives

  1. Many practice managers, particularly in small to mid-sized practices, have been thrown into the role of the Chief Privacy Officer without adequate training or support, which leaves them vulnerable to making critical mistakes. This presentation will explore the most common failures in privacy and security management, the reasons driving these failures, and proven solutions for forestalling these mistakes.
  2. Managing the security and privacy of protected health and personal information is only a small part of most practice managers’ portfolio of responsibilities.  Understanding the fundamentals of what a state-of-the-art privacy and security program looks like is critical to maintaining the security and privacy of your client’s PHI and PPI.  Attendees will discover the criteria a state-of-the-art security and privacy program should meet. They’ll also learn a framework with which to assess the training required to evaluate their privacy and security program, whether you develop and run your own program or outsource your program to a third-party vendor.
