Minnesota MGMA Leadership Attends National MGMA State Leadership Conference

▲ back to top

Members of the MMGMA Board attended the annual Council of State Leadership conference in Denver this past January. Subsidized by National MGMA, this conference provides the opportunity to meet and network with association leaders from across the country as well as to attend the Midwest section of State Leaders meeting in person. The conference included sessions on volunteer leadership, leading an association, succession planning, marketing, and a very exciting but brief “speaker’s showcase” highlighting conference speakers who can be hired for state conferences. This conference also enabled your Minnesota leadership quality blocked time together to plan and strategize for our own association’s upcoming year.

Contact MCO for Adjustments to Primary Care and Vaccines for Children

▲ back to top

Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) discovered an error in the calculation of enhanced rates they authorized to be paid by the managed care organizations (MCOs) for the Primary Care and Vaccines for Children (VFC) Incentive program. DHS corrected this amount with the MCOs, and final payments reflect all payments owed for 2013–2014. Because of this correction, the MCOs have begun to request payment or recoup overpaid incentive amounts from some providers. The Minnesota Department of Human Services directs clinics to contact the MCO for information about any specific recoupments or adjustments based on this correction. MMGMA members should audit their health plan payments throughout the contract cycle to make sure the plans are reimbursing at your agreed-upon rates.

Time to Request New Clinic Fee Schedules

▲ back to top

Many health plans have a July 1 renewal date and clinics are encouraged to start requesting their new fee schedules. Minnesota state law mandates that health plans must disclose information related to the contract renewal terms at least 45 days prior to the effective date of the proposed change. Please contact a PRC member if you do not receive an updated fee schedule at least 45 days preceding your contract renewal.

We are working to populate our LinkedIn pages with useful information for MMGMA members and those thinking about joining. And finally, please continue to share website changes you would like to see. Just contact Sue Haberle at susan.haberle@habcom.biz.

Conference & Education Committee

Feedback from the Winter Conference has been mostly positive, especially about the food and the layout. As always, some things can be tweaked. The committee will use feedback to give attendees an even better experience at future conferences.

Please let our committee know if you have any ideas for our Summer Conference. Contact Bridgetf@mmgma.org.

Exhibitor & Sponsorship Committee

Our committee is working on Day with the Payers sponsors and exhibitors for the May 19 meeting. We are also putting our Summer Conference sponsors and exhibitors package together for distribution. Please remember to encourage new business partners to sponsor or exhibit at our Summer Conference.

Payer Relations Committee

The PRC recently met with BCBS leadership. BCBS acknowledged issues with long wait times to reach a provider service representative and should have this resolved in March. The BCBS operating system transition continues, and clinics are encouraged to access examples of the new member identification cards and medical policies via the following link: https://www.bluecrossmn.com/healthy/public/personal/home/providers/medical-affairs.

The 2016 Payer Survey will be distributed soon! Please take time to complete this survey. PRC uses your responses to craft our Day With the Payers agenda, and we convey the survey results to each of the health plans.
