Stratis Health, as part of the Lake Superior Quality Innovation Network, supports a wide variety of CMS-funded quality improvement programs. Many of the programs are available to MMGMA. See the program summary for details. There is a great deal of health care transformation underway nationally and within Minnesota. Stratis Health has developed a health care transformation model that identifies the areas and components of transformation that organizations need to be planning for and working on going forward. See the transforming care model for details. The Stratis Health normal process is to try to align your needs with grant-funded initiatives. If no grant initiative exists for a particular need you have, Stratis Health offers a variety of fee-for-service consulting services to assist you with your transformation quality improvement needs. Please feel free to contact Bill Sonterre (bsonterre@stratishealth.org 612-584-7902) with questions about any of the programs or services available.

Time to Request New Clinic Fee Schedules

Many health plans have a July 1 renewal date and clinics are encouraged to start requesting their new fee schedules. Minnesota state law mandates that health plans must disclose information related to the contract renewal terms at least 45 days prior to the effective date of the proposed change. Please contact a PRC member if you do not receive an updated fee schedule at least 45 days preceding your contract renewal.

Communications Committee

Special attention continues to be given to the MMGMA website. Please continue to share website changes you would like to see. Just contact Sue Haberle at susan.haberle@habcom.biz.

In addition, as an example of the kinds of partnerships the committee is working to develop, here is a link to an article that ran in the April issue of MD News about the MMGMA Winter Conference.

Payer Relations Committee

Blue Cross continues to experience higher than normal call volumes and increased wait times. Additional provider representatives have completed their training and are now on the phones, which should help. In order to continue moving in the right direction, additional BCBS service representatives will be going through training in April and should be able to start taking calls soon.

We need your feedback! The Payer Relations Committee will be meeting with health plan representatives soon. Please complete the MMGMA Payer Survey that will be e-mailed in mid-April. PRC uses your feedback during our health plan meetings. We also draft the Day with the Payer questions based on your comments and questions.
