Board and Committee Member Strategic Planning
The MMGMA Board and all Committee Members will be having a working and networking session on Thursday, September 12. This annual event is our opportunity to involve all committee members in setting our strategic goals for the year. We will recap our 2012-2013 successes and challenges and we will set our sights for an even better 2013-2014. After the challenging work--it will be time for some fun networking! If you are on a committee and have not received information about this event, please contact the MMGMA office. If you are not on a committee--why not sign up to volunteer? Now is the time to join and have your voice heard!

Golf With Other MMGMA Members!
A non-MMGMA sponsored event is being planned for Thursday, September 19th at Deer Run in Victoria, MN. We have secured a handful of tee times between 1:00 and 1:30. Because this is NOT an official MMGMA event, you are on your own to make your own team and secure your own tee time. However, please drop an email to Rhoda Beaird or Matt Luepke to let us know you are coming. It will also help us in either securing more tee times or releasing tee times based on interest. Also, please email us if you want to play but don’t have a full team. We will match you up with a team. There is no sponsored lunch or dinner or beverage cart, no hole sponsors, no fund-raising mulligans, just good times with good friends, before, during, and after the round.
The cost is $57 per person ($43 for golf and $14 for the cart) and is paid to the course that day. Your word is your promise that you’ll show up. You decide within your foursome what format you want to play. The carts are equipped with GPS.
To secure your tee time, call 952-443-2351 and tell them you are with the MMGMA group (Rhoda Beaird) at 1:00. For directions to the course, go to www.deerrungolf.com.
Hope you can join us!

MMGMA Committee Updates
Communications: Check out the new video on our MMGMA homepage – Barbara Klick, COO of Fairview Physicians Associates, talks about the value of being an active member of MMGMA.
Government Affairs: As part of the ACA’s Medicare / Medicaid payment parity language, certain Medicaid services including office visits must be paid at Medicare rates for 2013 and 2014 for primary care providers and a subset of specialties. DHS will start paying at enhanced rates for Fee for Service claims on and after August 13, 2013. MHCP will notify providers when a schedule is determined for reprocessing past claims. Unfortunately, MHCP has not yet received federal approval for the Managed Care Organizations (PMAP) to implement enhanced rates.
MMGMA, along with the MN Hospital Association and the MN Medical Association, wrote a letter to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, to Senators Franken and Klobuchar, and to our eight representatives strongly encouraging them to reconsider regulations concerning the grace period allowance for Health Insurance Exchange enrollees. In the final rule, CMS provides HIE enrollees a 90-day grace period for nonpayment of health insurance premiums. Claims made in the first 30 days will be covered by the plan, however any claims submitted from days 31 – 90 would be pended. If the enrollee received services during days 31 – 90, it would appear that the patient had active coverage through our insurance verification processes. If, though, the enrollee did not pay their back premiums, all claims for care delivered on days 31 – 90 would be denied. As a care provider, you would not have any notification of your patient’s insurance premium payment schedule, or lack thereof, yet would be fully at risk for payment on services rendered. MMGMA will continue to advocate on the part of the care provider to change this rule.
Education: Save the date for the 2014 MMGMA Winter Conference. it will be held Tuesday, March 4 through Wednesday, March 5 at The Depot in Minneapolis! If you are interested in speaking at the 2014 Winter Conference, please download and submit a speaker proposal form.
