A Happy Hour Event: Lagers and Legislation

Monday, November 20th
5:00 – 7:30 pm
BENT Brewstillery

Beer and chili and tours of the taproom and distillery! Join the Government Affairs Committee (GAC) and other MMGMA members at a fall fundraising event to support the MMGMA Political Action Committee (PAC). GAC members will be providing the chili and guests will get to enjoy the entries and cast a vote for the best one. PAC contributions are encouraged and appreciated.

The PAC is an important tool used by MMGMA to raise money, which is then contributed to legislative leaders who author and support legislation that is significant to MMGMA members. Attendees will have the opportunity to network and build relationships with legislator guests, who are also being invited to the event. It’s a great way for them to learn about the challenges and issues affecting your practice. Add this event to your calendar and introduce someone new to MMGMA by bringing a guest. We look forward to seeing you!

Fall Mingling in a Cool Setting

▲ back to top

October 3 brought a cool, crisp fall afternoon – the perfect day to Mingle with Medical Management at Pinstripes in Edina. A sizeable turnout of 60 people mixed it up with a fun and casual networking game while enjoying wonderful food and beverages. It was a delightful evening for conversation inside the private space with newly discovered contacts, followed by catching up with old and new friends out on the balcony. If you missed this event, be sure to keep an eye out for the next Mingle date, and invite a friend!

A special thank you to our October event sponsors, Larkin Hoffman Attorneys. We appreciate your support!

We are looking for a sponsor for our next Mingle with Medical Management networking event in February, 2018. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Arrington at

The Morning at the Capitol takes place the first morning of the Winter Conference, March 6. The group is typically limited to 60, and registration is required. MGMA 2017 Regulatory Burden Survey

▲ back to top

The MGMA’s 2017 Regulatory Burden Survey conducted in August of this year found that among the sample of 750 group practices, most of which were independent medical practices and groups of 6 to 25 physicians, “[m]ore than 80% of respondents agree or strongly agree that a reduction in Medicare’s regulatory complexity would allow their practice to reallocate resources toward patient care.” The top five regulatory burdens were the following:

  1. Medicare Quality Payment Program
  2. Lack of electronic attachments for claims and electronic prior authorization
  3. Audits and appeals
  4. Lack of EHR interoperability
  5. Payer use of virtual credit cards
