New Minnesota Uniform Companion Guides Effective Jan. 31
Administrative Uniformity Committee announced the release of the v8.0 Minnesota Uniform Companion Guides (MUCGs)– version 8.0. Five v8.0 MUCGs below (links to PDFs) are effective January 31 and supersede all previous versions. The MUCGs provide instructions and information for the standard, electronic exchange of health care administrative transactions pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 62J.536:

Minnesota Credentialing Collaborative (MCC): Renew expired accounts now
CredentialSmart has modified their account retention policy for expired accounts. The new retention policy extends the grace period from 30 days to 60 days and removes the $50 re-instatement fee for expired accounts. Accounts that expired prior to Jan. 1, 2014, will be deleted March 1, 2014. See more information.

Government Affairs Committee:
Medicare Payment Reduction Delayed
On December 26, 2013, President Obama signed into law the Pathway for SGR Reform Act of 2013, the approved bipartisan budget deal that delays an almost 24% reduction in 2014 Medicare payments from January 1 to April 1. During this 3-month period, physicians will actually get a 0.5% rise in fee schedules and will allow time for Congress to further study this situation. Normandale Seeks Nursing Preceptors
Normandale Community College is seeking partners for clinical skill and preceptorship experiences for its nursing refresher program. The program meets the Minnesota state requirements for nursing license renewal, to include 60 theory hours and 80 clinical hours, with more than 30 hours of skill practice and 40+ hours of preceptorship experience.
Students seek a wide range of potential practice venues and specialties, ranging from clinic to hospital settings, and from gynecology to pediatrics to research. Preceptorship partners have the opportunity to work with potential employees and to increase awareness of opportunities with graduates.

MMGMA Welcomes Chris LeMay
MMGMA welcomes new affiliate member, Chris LeMay. Chris serves as Director of Business Development for SourceHOV, a provider of document management services including patient file imaging, medical coding, claims processing and data analytics. Chris has worked in outsourcing for 17 years. Within MMGMA, he has joined the Conference Committee to help plan the Winter Conference.
