▲ back to top

The Government Affairs Committee, with input from the Executive Committee, has approved a change which will enable MMGMA members to increase participation with the Political Action Committee (PAC).In 2016, there will be quarterly PAC conference calls available to all MMGMA members. The first call will be a Compliance and Overview presentation and may last a little longer than the other calls later in the year. The PAC conference calls will be scheduled over the lunch hour or after office hours for people who may have potential legal conflicts with conducting PAC business on company time. Watch for more information on upcoming PAC conference calls in May, August and November. Future topics will include ways to be more involved, PAC disbursement decisions and other updates.

Urge Your Member of Congress to Co-Sponsor H.R. 3940

▲ back to top

On Nov. 5, Rep. Tom Price, MD (R-Ga.) introduced H.R. 3940, the "Meaningful Use Hardship Relief Act of 2015." This bill would ensure that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) could grant broad relief to eligible professionals (EPs) from the 2015 EHR Incentive (Meaningful Use) Program due to the delay in publication of the Meaningful Use final modifications rule. While there are currently a number of hardship exceptions available, EPs are required to apply individually and each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. H.R. 3940, for which MGMA has vocalized its support, would provide a practical solution to this problem by amending the Meaningful Use statute to allow for a blanket exception for EPs in 2015. Visit the MGMA Advocacy Center  to contact your lawmakers and ask them to support this important legislation.
